How to design a useless machine?
A Greek myth tells the tragic story of Sisyphos, who after a series of misdeeds is condemned to roll a stone uphills in all eternity. Inspired by this, we developed a gravitational weight shifting mechanism that serves no other purpose than shifting weight.
The machine is composed of disks that can be manually controlled with a robotic glove. When the user bends a finger, the corresponding disk will start to rotate. This way, the user can move a small piece of metal between the disks.
The machine was controlled with an Arduino Mega and four stepper motors.
